THE FIGHTER’S JOURNEY TO FIND THE RIGHT NANNY
“A real struggle!” This is how Sarah Sussman, married and mother of three kids, summarizes the situation during her vacation in Morocco. She was looking for a simple babysitting service, fast and efficient, to take care of her children. But her search turned out to be an endless headache.
“There was no babysitting agency in the whole of Morocco that could offers us a quality, trustworthy service, and that disappointed us enormously, especially for a country which usually offers high quality services,”explains Mrs. Sussman. She had expected to find a full-time nanny in Marrakech during the family vacation.
The young mother had hope to take time for her marriage, to resume sports activities, and to rest while keeping an eye on her children. So she started looking for a nanny. She contacted several nanny agencies in Morocco. The mission was basic: to take care of the baby by :
- Ensuring good sleep for the baby
- Offering a varied and balanced
- diet Ensuring good hygiene
- Attending to and playing with the baby
- Assuring safety and well-being
Having tested more than thirty nannies from several agencies, she found every one unacceptable. “From the one who does not have the good manners to contact us to cancel the appointment to the one who arrives in late afternoon when the appointment was agreed for the morning; the one who has last minute problem issues to the one who inadvertently burns our son. The list goes on and on. Sarah also found in interviews that most babysitting agencies don’t even know nannies, and for many, no interviews were offered. Once the candidate arrived at her hotel, Sarah explains:
“Nannies don’t take matters into their own hands, are never reachable, and genuinely lack experience and self-confidence. It is absolutely necessary to explain everything and especially not to forget anything. And yet, we persist in believing that a fine nanny does exist! ”

Sarah therefore decided to recruit her own nanny with her own list of requirements, and she was finally successful. “To find my own nanny, I was uncompromising: I first selected a profile via my personal network then I agreed to an interview. I looked at everything under a magnifying glass: punctuality, personality, endurance, hygiene, and–above all–I checked all the references provided. A large number of the nannies in Morocco tell me about successful experiences but without having reliable references. I decided to save time by recruiting only the person whose profile met all my requirements. And I ended up finding the rare pearl! Madame Vivienne, a loving woman who adores my children and my family. She’s just perfect. She manages to captivate them, play with them and take great care of my loves to such an extent that my little Anna (2 years old) gains a kilo thanks to her new friend.” She continues: “What I appreciate above all about Vivienne is the love she gives to our children and her great discretion. She takes directives in line with my expectations and that of my husband. She has become part of the family and our vacations would not be the same without her. “
